I visited Dave Burgess' blog. I have had an affinity for the golden age of pirates and the way they lived, the way they governed, etc. so when I saw the name of his blog, "Teach like a Pirate" I was immediately drawn to it. If there is anyway I can funnel my obsession for pirates into my lesson planning i will always jump at the chance. A lot of the blog posts I saw had to do with his book, and with other "like a pirate" books that have been published. There was enough about the book to make me want to look into it and maybe try to find a copy of his book to read it. Pirates had their own culture that fascinates me. They were all about freedom, and non oppression, and finding a connection between the freedom they felt on the open seas and the freedom I wish to share with the students in my classroom would be the best feeling ever. That's when I'd feel like a captain in the classroom. That will be a good feeling.
